Publicly owned enterprises are businesses owned by federal, state, county, municipal, and tribal governments, or other public entities, such as, districts and authorities.  These enterprises are generally self-supporting, with revenues from rates,
fees, leases, contracts, and other sources is normally expected to cover all costs and usually pay a fair share of the owner’s overhead as well.
