This is a great opportunity to provide leadership and management to one of the top 911 Centers in Ohio. Trumbull County was created in 1800 and is located in Northeastern Ohio, 40 miles southeast of the City of Cleveland. Trumbull County is the 12th largest county in Ohio. Trumbull County has a population of approximately 225,116 and the County encompasses 24 townships and eleven cities and villages, with the City of Warren, the County seat, being the largest. The supervision of the 911 Director is provided by the County Administrator. There has been a recent study of the 911 Center by an outside consulting firm which has offered sound recommendations for the Center for the future. Also a recent change in management of the Center has created an excellent opportunity for a new 911 Director to be hired and lead the Center. Trumbull County is seeking a proven, dedicated, resourceful and technologically savvy individual for its new 911 Director. The County prefers that its 911 Director be an individual who has a background in management or supervision of a fairly large 911 Center and who is a strong leader, manager and administrator. The successful individual will also possess as a minimum a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in Telecommunications, Information Technology, Public/Business Administration or a related field. The ideal candidate should possess at least five years of progressively responsible experience in administration/management/supervision of an Enhanced 911 Center and should have experience with labor unions. The ideal candidate for the 911 Director position for Trumbull County should possess thorough knowledge of a 911 Center including management, technical issues, budgeting and operations management. The successful candidate should have excellent communications and interpersonal skills, should be technologically savvy and should also possess skills in negotiation techniques, grant writing, should be a salesman of the system to non-using governments and have the ability to make decisions. The successful candidate should have an open mind and should be willing to seek opinions and ask questions. The 911 Director is the leader/manager of the Trumbull County 911 Center reporting on a day to day basis to the County Administrator. The Director is responsible to the County Commissioners and the users of the system for the proper leadership, management and operation of the Trumbull County 911 Center. He/she shall be appointed by the County Commissioners for an indefinite term. He/she shall be appointed solely on the basis of his/her executive, administrative and technical qualifications managing/supervising an Enhanced 911 Center. The 911 Director shall reside within Trumbull County during his/her tenure in office but need not be a resident at the time of appointment. The starting salary for the Trumbull County 911 Director will be in the range of $52,000 to $72,000. Reasonable relocation expenses will also be provided to the successful candidate.
