SUMTER COUNTY, FLORIDA
Sumter County is located in Central West Florida, covering 562 square miles and with a population of approximately 70,000. The City of Bushnell, near the southwest border of the County, is the County Seat. Currently, and until February, 2008, the Sumter County Administrator is on a military leave of absence. The Assistant County Administrator is serving as the Interim County Administrator. Upon the County Administrator's return, the Interim County Administrator will reassume the role of Assistant County Administrator. The County wishes to hire an Interim Assistant County Administrator who will serve in that role until February 2008. In addition, when the Interim Assistant County Administrator position phases out, the County is interested in retaining that person in the position of Director of Administrative Services. The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a reasonably related field and will have several years experience in the local government administration field. The starting salary range for the position is up to $90,000 depending on qualifications.
