The City of St. Petersburg is strategically located on Florida's Gulf Coast. With a population of 251,000, it is the state's fourth largest city. It is also the gateway to Florida's High Tech Corridor. St. Petersburg operates under a strong mayor form of government. This system combines the strong political leadership of a mayor who is responsible for running the affairs of the city with an elected city council. The most important mission of the Finance Department is to maintain the confidence of the City staff, City Council, citizens, bond rating agencies and bond investors by insuring that the financial assets of the City are maintained in a professional manner. The starting salary for the position is up to $117,000 depending on qualifications.
