This is an outstanding opportunity to become Finance Director of Georgia’s newest cities. Sandy Springs is a dynamic community located just north of the City of Atlanta. The City Manager is looking for an experienced, capable Finance Director to provide leadership and management to the financial functions of the City. Sandy Springs is looking for a recognized leader in the area of municipal finance.

The successful candidate for Finance Director of the City of Sandy Springs will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration. An applicable Master’s degree with CPA and ACCA is highly preferred. In addition, the successful individual is required to possess at least ten (10) years of working experience in a senior financial or administration position. Past municipal, county or government service is strongly preferred.

The ideal and successful candidate will have solid experience as a financial leader to oversee the continued growth of the City’s financial services and the capital project programs the City is undertaking. The ideal candidate will also have a solid background and experience in the area of finance (first and foremost, Human Resources, Information Technology and Facilities).

The Finance Director of the City of Sandy Springs is appointed by and reports to the City Manager.

The City of Sandy Springs is Georgia’s sixth largest city and the second largest city in the Metro Atlanta area. The City is located just north of the metropolis of Atlanta. Sandy Springs was once a rural village and a summer retreat. It has now grown to become home to residents from around the country and the world.

Policy making and legislative authority of the government is vested in the Mayor and six Council Members who are elected for four-year terms on a non-partisan basis. The City operates under a Council/Manager form of government. The City has a General Fund Budget for FY 2010 of $96.9 million and there are 268 FTE City employees.

The starting salary for the new Finance Director of the City of Sandy Springs will be market competitive depending upon the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The starting salary range is $125,000 to $145,000 per annum. In addition, a competitive benefits package will be provided to the successful candidate.
