This is an outstanding opportunity to become City Manager of a progressive City that fosters cultural, economic and medical opportunities for the residents of the Miami-Dade County  SMSA.

The successful candidate for City Manager for the City of South Miami is required to possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field.  A Master’s degree is preferred.  In addition, the successful candidate should possess at least seven years experience in local government as a City Manager, Deputy or Assistant City Manager.  The City Commission is also seeking an individual who has kept up with his/her professional development.

The City Manager is appointed by the City Commission.  The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the City and exercises those executive powers and duties delegated to him/her by ordinance or city code.  It is preferred that the successful candidate reside within the City of South Miami.

South Miami operates under the Commission – Manager form of government. South Miami was incorportated in 1927.   It is one of the County’s oldest municipalities with a permanent residential, tri-ethnic population of approximately 11,300. 

The starting salary for the new City Manager of the City of South Miami will be market competitive depending upon experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.  In addition, a competitive benefits package will be provided to the successful candidate.
