The City of Sarasota (pop. 55,000) is located on the Southwest coast of Florida and is widely recognized as a city of very high quality.  Sarasota’s natural beauty, high quality of life, cultural stature, and progressiveness have earned the community a number of awards.  A few examples include being ranked the “Best Small City” in America by Money magazine in 2000, being ranked as the eighth best city in the South regardless of size by Entrepreneur magazine, and being ranked the number one market in the South for expansions and relocations by Southern Business & Development magazine.  A full-service city, Sarasota has 780 fulltime employees and a total budget of $187 million.

The candidate will have significant experience as a city manager, preferably in a setting experiencing major redevelopment.  Beachfront, tourism, and downtown redevelopment experience is desirable.  He/she will be proactive, innovative, and an excellent communicator.    

Salary range is $155,000 to $180,000, DOQ.
