Before joining the Mercer Group Mr. Pederson had
a distinguished career of over 35 years which included serving as chief executive of cities and counties in California, Colorado and Arizona. He served as city manager of cities ranging in size
from 8,000 to 250,000 and as county manager in counties ranging from 80,000 to 2,000,000. He has long been recognized as a leader in the local government management profession and has
served on the boards of the California and Arizona city management associations as well as on the board of the International City/County Management
Association (ICMA). He also served as ICMA president and as president of the Arizona City/County Management Association. Mr. Pederson was Chair of
the Executive Committee of the Innovation Group West and is one of the founders of the California Redevelopment Association. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army, Infantry, during the Korean War.
Mr. Pederson has published many articles in professional and vocational journals, served on numerous panels and as speaker at professional
association conferences, legislative forums and universities. His particular areas of expertise are executive search, organizational development and
economic development. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from UCLA and his Master of Arts degree in Government from
California State University, Los Angeles. He is also a graduate of the Coro Foundation Fellowship in Public Affairs.
