VILLAGE OF QUESTA, NEW MEXICO
The Village of Questa (Pop. 1,864) lies at the western base of the Taos Mountains, part of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Northcentral New Mexico. The Village is located in Taos County. Rising above the village to the northeast is the Latir Peaks, headed by Venado Peak, 12,734 ft. To the southeast lies Flag Mountain, a northwestern spur of the group of mountains that includes Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico.
The Village was incorporated in 1964, It has a Mayor-Council form of government, with an appointed Village Administrator. The General fund budget is $2.5 million, and 5.9 million with combined funds. The previous administrator served for nine (9) years.
The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:
1. At least 5 years of supervisory experience in managing a comparable sized organization. The experience can be in either the public or private sector, or both.
2. A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
3. Preferably from Taos County or one of the adjacent counties.
4. Demonstrated experience in the preparation of a multi-fund budget, and accountable for the expenditure of public funds in accordance with State law.
5. Demonstrated experience in supervising employees, progressive discipline, delegation of responsibility, and a team builder.
6. Provide at least 3-6 professional references that can attest as to the qualifications and experience of the applicant. We will personally call each of the references.
7. A person who understands that the next municipal elections in March could lead to their termination, but are willing to accept that challenge based on the quality of their work performance. Only two of the council members are up for reelection, so this might not be a problem.
8. A person who understands that the position of Village Administrator is an “at-will” position, meaning that they can be terminated by the Council with or without cause; and that the Village does not provide a severance package.
9. A person who is willing to accept an annual base salary of $50,000.00 plus the same fringe benefits that are afforded to all other village employees.
