CITY MANAGER

CITY OF POMPANO BEACH, FLORIDA

Located on the Atlantic Ocean in southeast Florida, this full service city presents a great opportunity for a seasoned City Manager with exceptional leadership skills and a track record of success in implementing complex plans and projects.

The City has over 700 employees and an annual all funds budget of $204 million. The City has a history of stability and conservative fiscal management. The last City Manager was there only two years, but the Manager directly preceding him served for fourteen years. The current Mayor and City Commission are a collegial group and are very much in agreement as to the traits and skills they are seeking in the new City Manager.

Experience managing in a cutback environment is essential, as is the ability to upgrade the quality of performance, responsiveness, and customer service of the City staff. The City Manager must have a track record of good judgment, excellent communications with the elected body and civic/resident groups, and achievement of established goals. The City Commission is seeking someone with strong leadership skills who can assist them in defining a clear vision for the City and can lead staff to devise and implement programs to achieve that vision.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree in public administration, finance, management or related field & ten years of executive-level municipal or County management experience. Experience must be in a medium to large sized city or an urbanized county with at least 250,000 population.  City Manager and Florida experience is strongly preferred, and experience with cost containment and increasing productivity is desired.

The salary will be in the range of $175,000 - $195,000 depending on qualifications.
