POLK COUNTY, FLORIDA
Polk County (population 500,000) is at the geographic center of Florida and encompasses over 2,000 square miles. Polk County continues to experience significant growth, with the character of the County transitioning from rural to urban. Policy is established by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) which consists of five Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms. Polk County has a proposed FY07 budget of $1.5 billion. This position reports to the Financial and Strategic Planning Director and has a staff of seven. The Financial and Strategic Planning Department reports directly to the County Manager's office. Bachelor's degree with major course work in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field. Master's degree in Pulbic or Business Administration is preferred. Must have a minimum of four (4) years experience in governmental finance or budget administration with at least one year of supervisory experience. Starting salary is up to $89,000 depending on qualifications. The position offers generous fringe benefits.
