Utilizing the extensive experience of Mercer
Group professionals, we have conducted the following training programs on governmental strategy and policy development:
- Developed, directed, and evaluated a "local government institute" to train business and civic leaders in various
aspects of council-manager government and in specific local government functions. Repeated the institute three times for 200 local community leaders, with excellent results.
- Developed a number of state and local government training programs offered through Georgia Tech. Subjects included
entrepreneurial city management, strategic planning for public managers, strategic management for state governments, and quality utilizing employees, systems, and technology (QUEST).
- Conducted a series of one-day seminars with local government officials on the subjects of cutback management and "spend
a day with a headhunter".
- Conducted goal-setting retreats with a number of boards, councils, and commissions including the Atlanta Mayor's office and
the Atlanta Water Bureau; the Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority Board and departments; the Hillsborough, Florida, School Board: the Lowndes County, Georgia, Board of Commissioners; the
Tyler, Texas, City Council, and the Winter Haven, Florida, City Commission.
