The Economic Development Department is responsible for all economic development programs and initiatives within the City. It is responsible for providing leadership in the development of innovative economic development programs and implementation strategies to promote and support the growth of the City of Orlando, building business partnerships, public/private partnerships, trust, and credibility throughout the community. With a staff of 168 employees, the Deputy Director of Economic Development plans, organizes, and coordinates the activities of the City Planning, Permitting Services, and Code Enforcement Divisions, within the City's Economic Development Department.
This is a senior leadership position that requires excellent credentials and experience in municipal planning, strong leadership skills, and a visionary perspective.
Bachelors Degree in planning or a closely related field is required. A Masters Degree in planning, or a related field, is highly preferred. AICP credential (or law degree) is required.
Minimum of 8 years of professional supervisory and management experience in urban planning is required. Government experience is desirable.
The starting salary range for the position is $110,000 to $125,000 DOQ.
