Mount Holly is located is located in the Metro area of Charlotte and Gastonia, North Carolina and Rock Hill, South Carolina. Mount Holly exhibits the charm of a small Southern Town, while being just minutes from a major urban area.  The City of Mount Holly is seeking a City Manager to carry out policy direction for the City established by the Mayor and City Council.  The ideal candidate for City Manager of Mount Holly will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Urban Planning, Public Administration or a related field.  The successful candidate should also possess a minimum of five to seven years of increasingly responsible experience in local government administration or management at the city manager, deputy or assistant level and experience in a city of similar size to Mount Holly.  Membership in ICMA is also desired of the successful candidate.  Substantial experience in urban planning, finance and budgeting, growth management, economic development and redevelopment and dealing with transportation issues would also be valuable to the successful candidate.  The City Manager serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City with day-to-day responsibility for managing City Government. The City Manager reports directly to the Mayor and City Council. This position serves at the will of the City Council.   Mount Holly is a vibrant community within the Metro area of Charlotte, Gastonia and Rock Hill. Bordered to the east by the Catawba River and Mountain Island Lake and to the south by the major roadway of Interstate 85, Mount Holly offers visitors and residents alike the charm of a small southern town. The City and the local community are committed to preserving the historic downtown, the natural beauty of the river and lake and its surrounding open spaces, while still making them accessible for recreational use.  The population of Mount Holly is approximately 10,000 and the City is growing, some of it brought about by the expansion of the Charlotte Metropolitan area. Mount Holly is the second largest City in Gaston County, behind Gastonia. Mount Holly is currently a City of 7.98 square miles.  The City of Mount Holly operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The governing body of the City is a Mayor and six City Council members. The Mayor is elected every two years in November, and the City Council members are elected at-large for four-year, staggered terms.  The current overall City budget is $13 million and there are120 FTE City employees.  The starting salary for City Manager of Mount Holly will be market competitive, depending on the experience, qualifications and salaried history of the selected individual.  In addition, the City of Mount Holly provides an excellent fringe benefit package.  For additional information on this outstanding opportunity, please contact James L.
