Council-Manager form of government. With a staff of 200, primary services provided by the City are police and fire/rescue emergency services, public works, parks, recreation, and water and sewer. All departments of the City, with the exception of the City Attorney, are under the supervision and control of the City Manager.

Marco Island’s’ tax base is over $11 billion, with a millage rate of only $1.2833 per thousand dollars of taxable value.  The City has a General Fund budget of $15 million and Total Budget of $85 million.

MPA preferred.  The successful candidate will have at least a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Public Administration or a related area.  Ideally, the candidate will have at least five year’s experience in municipal or county government as the chief executive officer.  However, applicants with extensive experience as an assistant manager will be given consideration. Experience in an up-scale environment, similar to Marco Island, is highly desirable.

Starting salary range is $150,000 to $180,000, DOQ. Fringe benefits are generous, including the possibility of housing assistance.
