HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA

 

Hillsborough County, located midway along the West Coast of Florida, has 1,048 square miles of land and 24 square miles of inland water for a total of 1,072 square miles.  It has a population of 1,055,800.  Hillsborough County is governed by a Home Rule Charter and has 5,800 employees with a $3.4 billion budget.  Three Assistant County Administrators report to the Deputy County Administrator - Development and Infrastructure, Human Services, and Management Services.  Reporting to the Assistant County Administrator for Development and Infrastructure are five Departments - Housing and Community Code Enforcement, Planning and Growth Management, Public Works, Solid Waste Management, and Water Resource Services.  A Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, or other related field is required.  A Master's degree is preferred.  Seven years of experience in local government management with at least five years at the senior level is required.
