The Hampton Roads Sanitation District (HRSD), headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia, is a political division of the Commonwealth of Virginia and is governed by an eight member Commission appointed by the Governor. HRSD serves a combined population of of 1.6 million in an area encompassing more than 3,100 square miles. HRSD is an industry leader and considered one of the highest performing and most progressively managed sanitation districts in the country. The vacancy is due to the upcoming retirement of the General Manager. The General Manager, under the broad policy direction of the Commission, leads HRSD's operating departments. The salary range is commensurate with experience. There is an $8,000 annual vehicle allowance in addition to the annual salary. This benefit is taxed.
