The Human Resources Director serves as a consultant for employees and supervisors; conducts on-going personnel research; coordinates activities with other City Departments, Divisions, and external agencies; and provides highly responsible, complex support to the City Manager and City Council.
The ideal candidate for Human Resources Director will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a related Master’s degree preferred. Also required is a minimum of seven (7) years experience in leading and managing a local government Human Resources Department or the equivalent, preferably in a high growth environment. Certification as a PHR or SPHR preferred.
Goodyear operates under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Charter provides for six council members and a mayor – all elected at large on a non-partisan ballot. The Mayor and Council serve four-year terms. The Mayor has a two-term limit and Council a three-term limit. Council members serve staggered terms to ensure continuity.
The City of Goodyear Human Resources Department is divided into three Divisions: Human Resources, Employee Development, and Risk Management. The Departmental Operating Budget for FY 2012 is $2,232,418 and there is a total of nine (9) staff authorized for the Department in FY 2012.
The starting salary will be market competitive, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected individual plus an excellent fringe benefit package and reasonable relocation expenses to the successful candidate.
