The City of East Point is seeking a new City Manager. The Mayor and City Council are seeking an outstanding individual who has the experience and vision to assist the Mayor and City Council in taking the community to a new level of success.
A Bachelorís degree in Public Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. A Masterís degree in Public Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred. Evidence of continued professional development through active participation in professional membership associations and activities such as the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) and the Georgia City and County Management Association (GCCMA) is required. An individual who is an ICMA Credentialed Manager would be a plus. Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in local government, or related field including five (5) years as a senior executive managing more that one department; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in economic development, budgeting and financial management, municipal utilities and human resources development is required. Experience in Georgia and familiarity with Georgia laws would be a plus.
This is a high-level executive management position that is responsible for directing and supervising the operations of the City of East Point. Work involves managing and supervising all departments of the City government to achieve goals using available resources. Responsibilities include preparing the annual budget, providing leadership and direction in the development of short- and long-range plans, advising the Mayor and City Council of financial conditions and current and future needs of the City, and monitoring and ensuring compliance with state/federal regulations.
East Point is located in Fulton County. The City encompasses eighteen (18) square miles, is located north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and its northern boundary abuts the City of Atlanta. East Pointís eastern boundary abuts Hapeville, the western boundary abuts unincorporated Fulton County and the City of Atlanta and the southern boundary abuts College Park.
East Point is a residential/industrial/commercial community that is transitioning. The City has a current diverse population of 33,721.

The City of East Point is a political subdivision of Fulton County, Georgia. The legislative authority of the City is vested in the City Council, which consists of a Mayor and eight (8) Councilors. The Mayor is directly-elected at-large by the citizens for a four-year term and has veto powers over the actions of City Council with the exception of two issues identified in the City Charter.
The eight (8) Councilors are elected by posts, of which there are two per ward for four year staggered terms.
All powers of the City and the determination of all matters of policy are vested in the City Council.
East Point is a full-service urban City providing police, court, fire, electrical, water, sewer, recreation, library, community development, and sanitation services. East Point operates an independent water systems and supplies water to the City of College Park and Fort McPherson.
The expected starting salary range for the new City Manager of the City of East Point is expected to be market competitive depending on experience and qualifications of the selected individual. In addition, an automobile allowance and a competitive fringe benefit package will be provided to the successful candidate.
