CLERMONT COUNTY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
Clermont County, Ohio, is located in the southwestern region of the State of Ohio, adjacent to the City of Cincinnati. The County is currently experiencing tremendous growth in population, ranking 14th overall statewide and representing one of the largest untapped commercial, industrial, and retail centers in the Midwest region of the nation. Physically bordered by the Ohio River, 11 miles to the Cincinnati Downtown Business District, 22 miles from the Greater Cincinnati International Airport, and primarily served by Interstate 275 and Highways 28, 32, 50, and 125, Clermont County is poised to become an economic leader in the region. The County’s position just 11 miles east of downtown Cincinnati is one of the primary reasons for the County’s success in attracting families to the area. There are the vast cultural arts and entertainment resources of a big city, paired with the neighborly feel of a suburban area. The Economic Development Corporation of Clermont County (ED3C) is a newly formed private nonprofit corporation. The main purpose of this organization is to bring private business and public sector economic initiatives together to market the great advantages of Clermont County to investors in the region, the nation, and throughout the world. In addition, the ED3C will provide services to retain and/or expand existing businesses within Clermont County. These vital tasks of business attraction, expansion, and retention are to be performed by the ED3C. The ED3C is governed by a five-member Board of Directors composed of business and government leaders. The day-to-day operation of this corporation will be led by a President who will be a professional Economic Development Director. Besides the ED3C, there are two additional key components to the Clermont County Economic Development initiative. They are the Community Improvement Corporation of Clermont County (CIC) and the Office of Economic Development (OED). The CIC was established in January 2004 by the Board of County Commissioners of Clermont County. The purpose of this non-profit corporation is to facilitate land transactions and provide potential financial assistance to existing and new businesses. The CIC has a Board of Directors composed of private and public sector leaders. The third component is the Office of Economic Development (OED). The OED has been created by the Clermont County Board of County Commissioners to focus the County’s efforts to the overall Economic Development initiative. Under the direction of the County Administrator, the OED will coordinate County department activities with the ED3C, the CIC and the County and Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Clermont County has recently hired a Director for the OED. While the initial funding for the ED3C is provided by contract between the ED3C and the County Commissioners of Clermont County, the terms and conditions of the contract explicitly allow for the formulation of an independent organization. The ED3C Board of Directors is seeking a President to be the leader for this newly-formed economic development corporation. This person must be able to implement the ED3C’s vision. The President is selected by and reports to the five-member Board of Directors. The newly formed, public-private partnership is seeking an experienced economic development-marketing specialist to immediately serve as its first President. The ED3C Board of Directors is seeking a candidate who has a proven history of marketing the positive attributes of a region. The candidate should be able to document successful projects that involve attraction, retention, and expansion of a wide variety of business ventures. Proven results achieved should include net positive advancements for the private and public sectors. Examples of job creation, investment, and long-term commitment to communities are required. The successful candidate for the position of ED3C President must possess a background that includes formal training in business, finance, and marketing. An MBA is preferred. CEcD certification, or a combination of training and documented experience that confirms a successful history is required. The successful candidate must be familiar with tax incentives, job tax credits, and state and federal subside programs. The starting salary range for the President of ED3C is expected to be in the range of $100,000 to $150,000 per annum, depending upon experience and qualifications, plus a competitive fringe benefit program.
