REDEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

CITY OF DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA

 

The City of Daytona Beach is situated in Volusia County, on central Florida's east coast.  Daytona Beach has a population of about 65,000 and encompasses approximately 65 square miles.  The City's eastern border is the Atlantic Ocean and it is widely renowned as "The World's Most Famous Beach."  The City of Daytona Beach operates under the Commissioner-Manager form of government  The City Manager and City Attorney are appointed by the Commission.  The City has 1,005 full-time employees.  The Redevelopment Department promotes economic development activity in the City with an emphasis within the five Redevelopment Districts.  The Redevelopment Director administers the planning, organization and direction of all redevelopment and economic development projects.  At the direction of the City Manager the Redevelopment Director acts as the liaison between the redevelopment boards and the City, assists with preparation of strategic plans for redevelopment areas, and proposes capital program and budgets.  The successful candidate will have, as a minimum, a Bachelor's degree in Planning or a related field; a Master's degree in Urban Planning is preferred.  The ideal candidate will also have at least three to five years experience at the level of Department Director or a position of similar responsibility.  Redevelopment experience is required.  The starting salary range for the Redevelopment Director is up to $105,000 depending on qualifications.  Fringe benefits are generous.
