CITY OF DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA
The City of Daytona Beach is situated in Volusia County, on central Florida’s east coast. Daytona Beach has a population of about 65,000 and encompasses approximately 65 square miles. The City’s eastern border is the Atlantic Ocean, and it is widely renowned as “The World’s Most Famous Beach.” Daytona Beach is also traversed by the scenic Halifax River.
CITY GOVERNMENT
The City of Daytona Beach operates under the Commissioner-Manager form of Government. In addition to the City Manager and City Attorney, Daytona Beach has an Assistant City Manager, Police Chief, Fire Chief, Finance Director, Human Resources Director, Public Works Director, Community Development Director, Leisure Services Director, Information Systems Director, and Development Services Director. The City has 1,000 fulltime employees and a total budget of $200 million.
The Daytona Beach Finance Department has 45 employees, organized under Business Planning & Research, Financial Services (Accounting, Budget, Cash Management, and Purchasing), and Information Technology.
The Finance Director is responsible for administering and directing of the City’s financial, management and budget, internal audit, treasury and debt management, business planning and feasibility analysis, project management, strategic planning, and performance measurement operations. The Director also directs technical work in the information technology areas of creative and communication services, software applications, customer service, network and telecommunication.
Education ¨ Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Information Technology, Accounting or related field.
Work Experience ¨ Twelve years progressively responsible executive level experience in financial management and/or, information technology, a portion of which shall be acquired in a governmental or similar public institutional organization. CPA desirable. Florida experience a plus.
COMPENSATION
The starting salary range for the Finance Director is up to $120,000, depending on qualifications. Fringe benefits are generous.
