The City of Daytona Beach is situated in Volusia County, on central Florida's east coast. Daytona Beach has a population of about 65,000 and encompasses approximately 65 square miles. The City's eastern border is the Atlantic Ocean and it is widely renowned as "The World's Most Famous Beach." The City of Daytona Beach operates under the Commissioner-Manager form of government The City Manager and City Attorney are appointed by the Commission. The Daytona Beach Public Works Department has 155 employees and an annual budget of $23 million. The Public works Director, under administrative direction of the City Manager, has the responsibility for administering all functions of the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in an area related to public works or public administration. An advanced degree is desirable, as is engineering or public works experience. 10 years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience in a local government setting, 5 of which in a managerial capacity, are required. Florida experience is a plus. The starting salary range for the Public Works Director is up to $115,000 depending on qualifications. Fringe benefits are generous.
