The City of College Station has grown and prospered around the state's oldest institution of higher education; Texas A & M University. The incorporation of the City in 1938 allowed for the transformation of a sleepy college community to a well-planned city where families live, work and play. The City encompasses an area of 47 square miles with a wide array of residential housing coupled with a diverse, high quality commercial base. The City's population of 82,500 is well educated, active in local government and committed to maintaining community traditions and quality of life. The Director of Planning and Development reports to an Assistant City Manager. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in urban planning, architecture, construction management, public administration or a related field. A Master's degree in a related field and current AICP Certification is highly desirable. He/she will have seven or more years of progressively responsible professional planning and zoning experience, including five years of supervisory experience. The salary range is $90,000 to $105,000. The appointment can be made anywhere within the range depending upon the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Benefits are included.
