The County Commission appoints the professionally-trained County Administrator, the County Attorney, and the County Auditor and the members of many advisory boards and councils. The position of Director of Accounting reports to the CFO/Director of the Finance & Administrative Services Department.
The County is seeking an experienced accounting professional with a high degree of technical knowledge of government accounting principles and practices and strong supervisory skills. Candidates must have graduated from an accredited four year college or university with a degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a related field. Considerable coursework in accounting is preferred. Certification as a Public Accountant is preferred, but not required. At least five years government accounting experience is required. Private sector experience is encouraged, provided the candidate also has at least five years of experience auditing local government financial records. Considerable managerial and supervisory experience is required.
The salary range for this position is $86,621 - $142,056 annually. The starting salary for the selected candidate will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
