This active, diverse, university city seeks an experienced professional to provide leadership for the City organization and to advance policy goals of sustainability in social, environmental and economic aspects of the community.  Boulder is Located 25 miles north of Denver, population 100,000, with a high quality of life, rich culture, extensive citizen involvement and interaction and a beautiful natural setting against the Rocky Mountain backdrop. It has been a leader in open space and land use planning for over 100 years. Home of the University of Colorado and center of high technology industry and scientific laboratories. Wide range of services operated under a stable home rule Council/Manager Charter. Two managers during past 10 years. Appointment within range of $130,000 to $200,000, DOQ, plus excellent fringe benefits.  $238M budget, excellent management group, and over 1200 highly motivated employees. Appointed by non-partisan 9-member City Council elected at large.  Mayor selected from Council. Graduate degree in public or business administration or field related to the effective delivery of diverse city services. Extensive urban management experience and innovation, prefera­bly as city manager or administrator. Experience with active, knowledgeable citizenry and a multi-cultural environment.  Interested in advancing long term financial sustainability plan and climate action plan. Proven business acumen and political sensitivity, record of successful communications, relationship building and staff development. Strengths in management leadership, teamwork and facilitation of City Council’s priorities.
