COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR

BUTLER COUNTY, OHIO

This is an exceptional opportunity to provide leadership and management to one of the fastest growing and most progressive county governments in the United States and one of the largest county governments in Southwestern Ohio.

With a population of 339,828, Butler County is ranked as the 8th largest County in Ohio. Butler County operates under a Council-Administrator form of local government.  The three-member elected County Commission is the governing body of Butler County. The General Fund County adopted budget for FY 2011 is $79.2 million and the total County budget for FY 2011 is $395.2 million. There are approximately 753 full-time County employees under the control of the County Commissioners.

The County Commissioners of Butler County are seeking a proven, dedicated, visionary, innovative and experienced individual for its new County Administrator.

The successful individual will possess as a minimum a Bachelor’s degree or higher from a four-year college or university with a major in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, Finance or other field related to Public Service and Management. A Master’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field would be a plus. An ICMA Credentialed Public Manager would be a plus. 

The ideal candidate should possess at least five years of progressively responsible experience in Management/Administration, preferably in Public Administration; or any combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to the minimum qualifications stated above. Experience in a smaller or equivalent size growing diverse local government entity would be a plus.  Experience as an Assistant/Deputy County or City Administrator with a larger growing diverse local government entity with a population of at least 100,000 would also be considered.  The County Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer of the County.

Butler County Commissioners hold title to all County property; serve as the sole taxing authority for the County and control County purchasing. Butler County has a FY 2011 adopted budget of $79,202,425 million, a FY 2011 non-General Fund adopted budget of $316,039,333 million and a total FY 2011 adopted budget of $395,241,758. There are currently approximately 753 County employees under the control of the County Commissioners.

The starting salary will be market competitive, depending on the experience and qualifications of the selected individual plus an excellent fringe benefit package and reasonable relocation expenses.
