This is an outstanding opportunity to provide leadership and management to the Finance Department of a premier growing community located in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains of Northern New Mexico. At 8,500 feet elevation, the Village of Angel Fire is an action packed winter skiing and cool summer resort community located northeast of Taos that is undergoing considerable new development. The Mayor and Village are seeking an experienced financial manager to provide leadership and management to the financial functions of the Village for the future. The Village of Angle Fire is seeking a strong, proven, dedicated, visionary, innovative and experienced individual to be its next Finance Director. Specific requirements of the successful candidate include a fiscally responsible person who is forward-thinking, has a proven track record and who can develop financial policies and procedures for the Village; a person with knowledge and experience in public sector finance and accounting; a person who has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; and one who can effectively implement needed changes to the financial and budgetary functions of the Village as it grows and develops. A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration or a related field is required. A related Master’s degree is preferred. Evidence of continued professional development is important. A minimum of five years of experience in accounting, administration or a related field that would enable the successful candidate to satisfactorily perform the duties as Finance Director is required. Any equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable. The Finance Director is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor through the Village Administrator of the Village of Angel Fire. This is a highly professional financial and accounting position in the Village’s fiscal activities. This position provides overall guidance of accounting, revenue, expenditures, collection, budget development and control, investments, department service and annual fiscal audit. The fastest growing community in New Mexico for the past several years, Angel Fire is experiencing the challenges of a rapidly expanding community. Angel Fire, in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, is located approximately 25 miles northeast of Taos and an hour and a half from Santa Fe. The Village is governed by a Mayor and four Council members elected at large for staggered four-year terms. The Mayor appoints a Village Administrator, confirmed by the Village Council. The Village Administrator oversees the Village Departments of Public Works, Community Development, Finance, Fire and EMS and Tourism/Community Services. The Village Administrator also provides direction to the Village Clerk and the Police Chief. The Village has 72 full-time employees divided among various departments. The Finance Department is comprised of Utility Billings, AP/AR/Payroll and Accounting with a staff of 6. The Village operates a General Fund budget of $3.4 million; an Enterprise Fund budget of $2.3 million; and a Debt Service Fund of $1.16. The total Village budget is $15.6 million for FY 07/08.
