Aurora is Colorado’s third largest City, encompassing the East side of Denver Metro area, pop. 310,000, 154 square miles, an exciting place to live. Total budget is $870M, all funds;  total employment of 2,860. The Budget Officer has leadership role in financial planning, preparation of budgets, public presentations and explanations, capital investment planning, service performance measurement, efficiency and effectiveness. Reports to chief financial officer and maintains direct, collaborative relationships with City Manager and department heads, with exposure to elected officials and public. Manages and develops highly professional budget analysis team of 8. See www.auroragov.org. Salary very competitive, DOQ, plus excellent benefits and relocation assistance. Degree in finance, economics, business, public administration or related field, graduate degree strongly preferred, plus 5 years progressively responsible experience in budget and financial planning with at least 3 years supervision, or equivalent combination. Requires combination of talent for institutional relationships and technical skills in financial analysis; public presentation expertise, tact and confidence for the political process of the budget; creative problem solving with operating budgets; skills in technological tools and in clarifying financial issues for non-technical people.
