Engineering Manager and Principal Engineer

ENGINEERING MANAGER

Under general direction of Public Works Director, provides direction/coordination, and oversight for the Engineering Division, including environmental/transportation/construction and development areas of Public Works. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience supervising/designing/planning, and directing engineering and municipal public works projects. Requires good design engineering background, knowledge of traffic engineering and strong construction background. Salary negotiable DOQ/experience (in range of $60,030 to $90,045 annually), plus competitive fringe benefits and use of City vehicle for work purposes.

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER

Under general direction of the Engineering Manager, provides direction/coordination, and oversight for Capital Improvement Program (CIP), environmental/transportation/construction, or development areas of Public Works. Requires Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with minimum five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in designing/planning, and directing engineering and municipal public works projects. Supervisory experience preferred. Requires good broad base of engineering experience/knowledge. Salary negotiable DOQ/experience (in range of $51,335 to $77,044 annually), plus competitive fringe benefits.

Both positions require commitment to providing exceptional customer service, good technical foundation, experience in growth community and in fast-paced environment, and State of Iowa Professional Engineering license within six months of appointment. Requires good interpersonal and written/oral communications skills, ability to delegate and be team player and proactive individual.
